Application Tracker
I’d heard my fellow student peers talk about applying for 100s of jobs every week. I was doing the same, no meaningful results, until I realized I couldn’t answer the most basic statistics about my own job applications.
A few questions I set out to answer were:
How many roles had I applied for in the same company?
What industries was I getting the most responses from?
How had the conversations gone in my previous calls?
In a period where I have to upscale my skills I couldn’t reasonably spend a big portion of my time in manually writing the required details. Hence in a classic Mohan fashion, I spent even more time building a database integrated application tracker to track my applications while also developing my programming and design skills.
The Application Tracker was built using PyQt and a relational SQL database with multiple tables and defined relationships. Its layout features three master tabs, each containing multiple sub-tabs to make filtering and updating data intuitive and efficient.
Applications can be filtered by company, job title, application status, and industry, while company details, job status, and all role-specific information can be easily updated.
Building and using this tracker not only streamlined my job application process but also strengthened my preparation for interviews. In fact, creating this project directly contributed to my success in the software interview for my current role, making it a project that had a tangible impact on my career.
